About Us

The Charles County Department of Economic Development (EDD) is an economic development organization that supports and promotes the economic vitality of Charles County, a dynamic and fast-growing region in the Washington DC metro area. We serve as a first point of contact for local businesses and for companies seeking to locate or relocate to Charles County.

Our Mission:

-       Promote wealth creation and economic growth through quality employment, innovation and productivity.

-       Increase County revenues through the attraction and retention of high quality jobs and new capital investment.

-       Foster a business climate where companies can grow and prosper, and to advance high quality of life for all County residents.

With a strong collaborative network of businesses, education, and governmental partners, our organization provides assistance to companies that are looking to locate or relocate through a variety of services including site selection, workforce training, incentives packaging, introductions to businesses contacts, permit expedition and sourcing of capital.

The EDD seeks to attract entrepreneurs, talent professionals, and companies from key growth industries to the region by marketing Charles County's business, workforce, and lifestyle assets. In addition, the EDD provides resources and support for existing businesses to help them grow and expand in Charles County.
