It’s vital our community is educated and equipped with the right tools for success, to have the chance to leverage this industry, as well as have a hand in fueling economic development in the region.

The Fall Meeting will incorporate a panel discussion dedicated to the medical cannabis industry in Charles County. "Medical cannabis is coming to Maryland, and I believe there are many ancillary or supporting businesses that have the opportunity to benefit from this industry if they are prepared economically," said Shad Ewart, moderator of the Medical Cannabis panel at the Fall Meeting.

The focus is tailored to how business owners can take advantage of the abundant opportunities. Attendees will learn about Maryland’s medical cannabis system and how it will function in a business setting, how to increase sales by targeting the industry, and what future expansion legalization could mean for their businesses. Panelists will also address the potential controversy behind the industry.

How can medical cannabis benefit local businesses?

Similar to the 19th-century gold rush, the medical cannabis industry has a plethora of puzzle pieces that come with it. With its legalization in Maryland and implementation in Charles County, businesses have the chance to profit from what the medical cannabis industry has to offer the surrounding community. Shad Ewart said, “As it’s said, the folks that made the real money in the gold rush were not those who found the gold nuggets, but rather those who sold the picks and shovels.”
