Pediatric Dentist Treats Kids from New White Plains Building

Pediatric Dentist Dr. Joseph Brannon, known as “Dr. Joe,” serves some of Charles County’s youngest residents from his new office in White Plains. We say “new” because his office, Kids By the Bay Dental, just opened in July, and he was the very first tenant in the fifth building* to be completed at White Plains Corporate Center. The fresh, bright colors of his office and Dr. Joe’s friendly demeanor create a welcoming atmosphere for children who might be anxious about seeing a dentist.

Dr. Joe says his decision to locate in Maryland was influenced by his wife (also a dentist) who grew up in Maryland and wanted to be closer to her family. They were living in South Carolina at the time and started looking at areas both there and in Maryland to open a business.

“I did a lot of research of the area, and I thought Charles County gave me the best match between big city and small town,” says Dr. Joe. “I’m from the country, so it was the perfect match where I could have access to DC yet still live in a smaller town.”

He also looked at the County’s demographics, the growing population, and access to dental care. “I viewed several potential sites but this was the perfect location.”

Dr. Joe saw the need for more access to care as an advantage from the beginning. “There are very few offices in this county that specialize in treating children, and even fewer that accept multiple insurances,” he says.  They accept both state and federal government insurances, and also see children with special healthcare needs.

Kids by the Bay Dental is a modern, state-of-the-art facility that includes paperless records, overhead TVs, iPad stations, and complimentary WiFi for parents. Though locally owned and operated, they strive to provide cutting-edge services with a personal touch.

An additional 2-3 years of training after dental school has prepared Dr. Joe for the unique dental needs of children. His office focuses on preventative care to help each child grow a healthy smile that will last a lifetime, and his clientele come from all over the County—Waldorf, La Plata, and Indian Head.

As a successful pediatric dentist and entrepreneur, Dr. Joe offers this advice to others thinking about locating their business in Charles County: “The numbers show growth.” He and his wife also live in the County, and he enjoys building lasting relationships with his patients and their families, mentoring students, and participating in health and career fairs.

#MyCharlesCounty and other ways to make a difference

For those who work in economic development, pointing out a community’s assets is part of the job.  But sometimes, it’s what its citizens say that makes a difference.  This is a true story told by a local businessman who’s now in Southern Maryland but moved here from another state.

“Charles County is a great central location for us to have access to all of our customers. We do business with NSWC Carderock, Naval Research Laboratory, NAWCAD Patuxent River, NSWC Dahlgren, and Indian Head Naval Support Facility, to name a few.”
