Seeing themselves as ambassadors of area business development, the Askeys send employees to the Economic Development Department’s quarterly business roundtables to keep tabs on the initiatives impacting their clients. “We keep up with what’s going on in economic development so that we can represent our clients in the county and help them get results,” says Askey.
Askey celebrates the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) as a front-line resource essential to local businesses. She teaches a record-keeping course at CSM’s Small Business Development Center, which she recognizes as an opportunity to give back to Charles County. “We’re expanding the knowledge of people in the community,” she states.
Believing that education “is a confidence builder like no other,” Askey encourages her team to seek higher education at every opportunity. Today, eight of the firm’s employees have earned their CPA licenses, and three are studying for the exam, which is a significant milestone, both personally and professionally. The Askeys encourage all team members to continue their educations as lifelong learners.
