Sagepoint Senior Living Services: Excellence in Elder Care

Posted by: Economic Development Team on Tuesday, October 29, 2019

The surge in our over-65 population is unprecedented in American history. Thus, the need for quality elder care is essential for our Baby Boomers—many of whom still hold jobs and lead active lives—to thrive in the decades to come. Kelsey Pearson, Sagepoint’s Director of Marketing, shared how this key Charles County employer is setting the pace within the industry—and helping our seniors shine.

Charles County Economic Development Department (EDD): What is Sagepoint’s history in Charles County?

Kelsey Pearson (KP): For more than 40 years — first as Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and now as Sagepoint — our community-focused nonprofit has provided the region with the highest quality senior care. Initially founded as a nursing home, we continue to grow our services and offer an unmatched scope of trusted care solutions.

EDD: What are the main advantages of doing business in Charles County?

KP: The community. As a nonprofit organization, the quality of senior care we provide simply would not be possible without the support of partner organizations, our Sagepoint families, and the Charles County community.

EDD: Describe your experience working directly with the Charles County Economic Development Department.

KP: The Charles County Economic Development Department has been a wonderful partner for us! They do an excellent job of helping us echo news regarding our latest projects and successes on social media and in their e-newsletter. The staff is always friendly and willing to help.

EDD: What have been your company’s greatest successes this year?

KP: We received major accolades in 2019, celebrated equally by our staff, our seniors, and their families. SeniorAdvisor.com, a trusted resource for seniors and their loved ones, selected Sagepoint as a 2019 Best of Senior Living winner. As the only senior community recognized in Southern Maryland, we rank among the top tier of senior care providers in the country. We also take great pride in our five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services—the very highest rating. This distinction empowers our staff and motivates us to deliver the best standard of care possible.

EDD: Does your company have any future plans that you would like to share?

KP: In Spring 2018, we debuted our newly-expanded rehabilitation center, boasting modern design and 30 private rooms complete with private baths and showers. The center offers a state-of-the-art therapy gym with a mock bedroom and kitchen aimed at helping patients master the same daily living skills needed to return home. Since the expansion, we’ve been able to help many more area citizens recuperate and prepare for their transitions home in a supportive, comforting setting.

Our newest project, Sagepoint Village, a 60-bed assisted living community brimming with amenities, opens in La Plata in early Spring 2020. The building, which offers a state-of-the-art senior care experience with expanses of outdoor space, will neighbor Sagepoint Gardens and advance our legacy of personalized care.
