Chudi joined our team in May 2021 and supports the department’s business development programs, projects, and activities, with a focus on business engagement, research, planning, and collaboration with businesses and stakeholders. He also supports business retention and expansion initiatives and advocates for existing local businesses. Outside of the office, he enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, exercising, and foodie activities.
Charles County Economic Development Department (EDD): What are your first impressions about working for the EDD?
Chudi Obi (CO): My first impression of working with the EDD is the sense of professionalism and cooperation each member for the department engages in to help meet the goals of the EDD. It is a place where I am encouraged to provide input and my opinions on various assignments that come the department’s way.
EDD: How do you describe your job to your family and friends?
CO: I would describe my job as one where my skills are efficiently utilized to help craft plans and ideas that not only help in spurring economic growth in Charles County, but also have a positive impact on the residents.
EDD: What is a skill you’d like to learn and why?
CO: I would like to learn carpentry. I have an interest in building things and would like to have a working knowledge of it.
EDD: If you could travel back in time to any period in history, when would it be and why?
CO: I would like to travel back to the 1980s in the United States to experience the mall culture and movie scene.
EDD: What’s the latest book you read?
CO: I am still currently reading a biography on President Ulysses S. Grant. It has been an engaging read to learn about the former president and the United States in that time period.
EDD: Who inspires you?
CO: My mother and father. Their hard work and dedication to me and my sister throughout my life will also inspire me to excel.
EDD: What technology do you love to hate?
EDD: Describe your ideal weekend.
CO: Hanging out with friends on the riverfront or lake on a boat.
