Positive Feedback from Our Charles County Businesses

Posted by: Economic Development Team on Thursday, May 19, 2022

As a part of our inaugural Business Appreciation Week, May 9-13, our Economic Development Department (EDD) staff and partners visited 26 Charles County small businesses in two days, touring their operations and talking to business owners. Our visiting teams consisted of EDD staff, our Advisory Board, community partners, and elected officials. We received positive feedback on the visits from both sides and wanted to share them here.

"It is often said that it takes people to grow a business, and after being in business for over six years, the day-to-day had become stagnant. I had one meeting with the Charles County Economic Development Department and my entire outlook has changed. I am shocked and amazed at all the help and resources I am receiving from them. I was literally walking on cloud nine when I left my first meeting, and I am exuberantly excited to see the inevitable growth their help will guide me to obtain. I could never thank them enough. I feel as though this encounter has become the first of many wonderful new things for my business and it's all because of the CCEDD. I am, and will be, forever grateful." -Ada Ruiz

"I genuinely appreciated and enjoyed my site visit by the Charles County Economic Department team during Business Appreciation Week. I learned so much about the various resources and support offered by the department that I know I could utilize. As both a long time resident and business owner in Charles County, I understand the value of being aware of the resources the County offers. My hope is that there continues to be improvement to these efforts toward consistent outreach and empowerment of small businesses during such challenging economic times." -Chinyere N. Eze

“As a business owner myself, I thoroughly enjoyed talking to other small business owners and entrepreneurs, learning about their operations, infrastructure, future growth plans, and most importantly helping them tap into the network of support we have here in Charles County.” -Commissioner Coates

John Flatley Jr, Franchise Owner/Operator, visiting team member

“I enjoyed working with Economic Development during Business Appreciation Week. Our visits to The Silberman Dental Group, P.A. and The Goddard School, both located in Waldorf, was enlightening for all involved. The owners of both businesses were not aware of all that the EDD has to offer and were appreciative that we took the time to share opportunities. Likewise, it was a great opportunity for me to learn as we discussed surviving the pandemic and adjustments they made to remain successful during that challenging time. I always enjoy meeting and learning from successful entrepreneurs. The time spent on these visits was inspiring and educational for me.” -John Flatley Jr

The purpose of these business visits was to open communications between businesses and the EDD, inform businesses about resources, learn more about the business needs and challenges, and demonstrate to the community in general the importance of locally owned businesses to the well-being of the community and the local economy. We were happy with the positive feedback and look forward to doing this again next year. Please visit our Business Appreciation Week page for more photos and details.
