Meet our Marketing Coordinator, Jennifer Reginald

Posted by: Economic Development Team on Wednesday, January 3, 2024

Jennifer Reginald joined the Charles County Economic Development Department (CCEDD) as Marketing Coordinator in 2015. With over 20 years of prior experience in marketing and communications for nonprofits and local government, Jennifer uses her expertise and passion to communicate Charles County's key industries for economic development, including healthcare, federal contracting, technology, retail, and entrepreneurship.

In her diverse and dynamic role, Jennifer covers a range of tasks that touch on many facets of the organization's marketing and outreach efforts. Her responsibilities include developing and sending the department’s bi-weekly e-newsletter, social media programs, and traditional media efforts; writing marketing content, reports, blogs, and presentations; and preparing, developing, and updating content on the department’s website. Jennifer also taps into her creative side by coordinating the development and use of visuals and creative elements, such as photography and videography, organizing, creating, and distributing marketing materials and information packages for site selectors and business prospects, and tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Her professional endeavors are fueled by a passion for clear communication. Her first job out of college was as a proofreader for MacMillan Publishing in Indianapolis, Indiana. They published the “Idiot’s Guide” series at the time, and she developed an eagle eye for spotting errors. After moving from Indiana to Maryland in 2004, she worked in marketing for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases in Alexandria, Virginia.

After the birth of her second son, Jennifer stayed at home with her two boys and started a freelance business where her work included magazine content writing, a web site for her hometown, the City of Brazil, and websites for her church, its college, and small businesses. An advertisement by the CCEDD for a part-time Marketing Specialist caught her attention in 2015, and she accepted that position because of its part-time status at the time and being closer to home.

Asked about her favorite activities with the CCEDD, she said, “I enjoy interviewing businesses for blogs and writing their stories. I've written about everything from energetics to local honey. It keeps my job interesting, and I love learning about the businesses in our community.”

Her favorite part of Charles County is that it evokes a “small-town feel” while maintaining proximity to Washington, D.C. When asked about her favorite Charles County business, she shares that Bollywood Masala in La Plata is one of her family's favorite spots, “We've eaten at several Indian restaurants in the United States and even in England, and Bollywood Masala’s food and customer service are by far the best.”

Originally from Indiana, Jennifer moved to Charles County in 2004 with her husband, a native of Sri Lanka and a NASA scientist. In her free time, she spends time at her teenage sons’ swim meets, singing in her church choir, and enjoying Indian and Sri Lankan cooking. She also published a book this summer.
