The Charles County Economic Development Department (EDD) is excited to welcome Chastity Durham-Miller as our new Small and Minority Business Development Specialist. With a passion for community development and a strong connection to Charles County’s local landscape, Chastity is committed to fostering the growth and success of small businesses, contributing to a lasting economic impact throughout the community.

In her role, Chastity will oversee the EDD’s Small and Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) and Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) programs, ensuring local business owners receive the support needed to take advantage of these initiatives. She will also stay closely connected with Charles County’s major employers, industry clusters, and key initiatives, providing valuable insights to guide business development and retention strategies.

Chastity finds great fulfillment in helping people and businesses thrive. She shares, “Supporting small and local, minority and women-owned businesses, and engaging with the community is incredibly meaningful to me. It’s an honor to offer guidance, share knowledge, and provide service. Every interaction with a business is an opportunity to contribute positively and help Charles County continue to grow.”

Chastity brings over a decade of experience from various organizations, including federal agencies, nonprofits, and private-sector businesses. Before joining the EDD, Chastity most recently served as a loan specialist at the Small Business Assistance (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance's Processing and Disbursement Center (PDC). Her background in managing loan processes, from application through approval, will be a key strength as she helps Charles County businesses navigate available resources.

One of Chastity’s favorite aspects of Charles County is the vibrant community of small businesses, nonprofit organizations, food trucks, and restaurants that bring unique flavor to the area. A true foodie at heart, she’s excited to support these local gems, help them thrive, and contribute to continued economic growth and success in Charles County.
