Michelle DeSoto serves as the Economic Research Specialist with the Charles County Economic Development Department (EDD). Her responsibilities include serving as the primary local source and provider of comprehensive economic and other statistical data on the Charles County economy, commercial real estate market, workforce, and economic profile relative to other jurisdictions in the region and State.

Prior to joining the EDD, Ms. DeSoto worked for the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, a quasi-governmental non-profit regional development and planning agency, where she worked on a range of projects including transportation, workforce development and the NAS PAX Joint Land Use Study. Additionally, she served as coordinator for the Regional Infrastructure Advisory Committee. Ms. DeSoto also brings to the EDD experience as an event coordinator, with practice planning and executing a variety of events including executive meet and greets, trainings, formal legislative receptions, gala receptions and sporting tournaments.

Ms. DeSoto holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. She also holds certifications in grant writing and grant management.

A lifelong resident of Southern Maryland, Ms. DeSoto is an avid sports fan and athlete, who enjoys swimming, traveling, watching movies and spending time with friends and family.
