Dedicated to bolstering business growth and retention, Anthony Adesina, our Business Retention and Expansion Manager, crafts strategies for both domestic and international business expansion. He plays a pivotal role in endorsing Charles County as a prime destination for businesses.
Since joining us in 2022, Anthony has offered extensive support services for emerging and well-established businesses within Charles County. Anthony links businesses to Circle of Services partners for business advice, startup support, site selection, business expansion, workforce development, business retention, business sustenance, financial sustainability, and access to finance.
Anthony also assists export-ready companies, connecting them with local and federal resources that support their goals, and identifies international partner organizations in countries of interest.
What he enjoys most about his position is meeting new people, being a trusted resource partner to local businesses, and working with them to think through problems and creatively design solutions. Anthony says, “All of the businesses I’ve engaged with have their own unique competencies and stand out in different ways.”
His favorite part of Charles County is the Western Corridor at Bryans Road and Indian Head.
Anthony says, “Bryans Road, most especially, has a lot of potential for growth and development. It is not as populated as other parts of the county, which allows for the development of a close-knit community. With the available commercial space, businesses looking to avoid the noise and cut-throat competition within other parts of Charles County can thrive. With the modernization plan being promoted by the Naval Base, Bryans Road and Indian Head stand to benefit economically with the influx of new businesses.”
Before joining the Charles County Economic Development Department, Anthony worked with and supported the US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration/Global Markets (ITA/GM) Business Unit. There, he spearheaded domestic and international business expansion initiatives, primarily catering to U.S. enterprises in Nigeria and the broader Sub-Saharan Africa.
Educationally, Anthony is a proud alumnus of Lagos State University, Nigeria, with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He also possesses a Master's in Pharmaceutical Studies from London Metropolitan University, UK, and an MBA from the University of Southampton, UK. Away from his professional realm, Anthony is passionate about travel, networking, and reading.
