T12 TechnologiesAfter dedicating 20 years to the United States Air Force as a logistician and ten years as a federal government contractor, Tamika Chance founded T12 Technologies, an innovative service-disabled, woman-, minority- and veteran-owned business providing information technology (IT) and logistics services. Leveraging her extensive expertise, Chance created a comprehensive suite of services to assist clients in efficiently managing their business resources and reducing redundant processes.

“When you say you're a managed service provider, people don't really know what that is,” said Chance. “T12 Technologies blends information technology and logistics in a truly unique way. These two factors are crucial for most companies, many of which struggle with outdated tools that lead to inefficiencies and wasted resources. Our overarching goal is to help businesses modernize their operations by introducing cutting-edge automation tools, robust cybersecurity measures, and efficient logistics management designed to enhance their day-to-day operations.”

Since its establishment in 2018, Chance developed a strong client list that includes small businesses and large, nationwide enterprises. “I get a lot of joy from the immediate reaction from people once they realize that our services can benefit any type of business, no matter how small or big the company,” she shared. “Small companies need IT visionaries, too.”

Drawing on her knowledge of the defense industry, Chance has built partnerships with the U.S. Department of Defense, various federal government agencies, the military, and numerous commercial businesses.

As the company looked to capitalize on this market, Chance, a Charles County resident, recognized the county’s growing number of defense companies. Chance elaborates, “I saw the growth potential here. My aim was to support other businesses in my community and capitalize on the expanding defense client base, opening up new opportunities for T12 Technologies.”

In 2022, T12 Technologies relocated to Charles County to tap into the county’s burgeoning defense sector and supportive business environment. The company rented office space in the Southern Maryland Business Center in White Plains, Maryland. Beyond establishing a closer connection to her target market and a broader client base, T12 Technologies has also benefitted from Charles County’s many business support resources and industry-adjacent fields.

“Charles County has a lot of resources, especially for minority- and women-owned businesses that make it a good place to do business,” adds Chance. “The SBDC was a great resource that fully supported our business. They walked us through getting a Paycheck Protection Program loan and offered a lot of connections and knowledge to help our business find its footing here.”

The Charles County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Department have also supported T12 Technologies, adding visibility and fostering connections in the community.

Serving on the Chamber’s Business and Education Committee, T12 Technologies has engaged students in Charles County for internships and apprenticeships through the College of Southern Maryland. “We have a great partnership with the college,” shared Chance. “We love bringing students in to help with our contracts, and they’ve propelled the company’s business development.”

With 16 full-time employees and contractors, T12 Technology plans to expand into a new office space later this year.

“Watching businesses like T12 Technologies thrive and expand is immensely gratifying,” said Anthony Adesina, Business Retention and Expansion Manager for the Charles County Economic Development Department. “Charles County is a home for diverse businesses and voices. We are honored to play a role in their journey and eagerly anticipate their continued success and the broader growth of our thriving community.”

Chance finishes, “We’ve found a home here and look forward to continuing our journey in Charles County.”
