Health Services

When it comes to health care, affordability and accessibility are leading concerns for patients and providers alike. Our health care innovators are leading the charge for change.

Our Robust Workforce

Health Care and Social Assistance professionals comprise 15 percent of the county’s employment base. Emphasis on the sciences takes hold in Charles County’s STEM-intensive public schools and takes off at the College of Southern Maryland. Outside the county, nearly 40 percent of our employees (physicians, phlebotomists, and health care IT professionals among them) commute into the county in search of opportunity. Our talent pool supports the rapid growth of hospital and outpatient services, assisted living, tele-health, and medical cannabis.

Our Relevance

Charles County providers take a holistic approach to healthcare at every age and stage. Their efforts raise awareness, reduce costs, and improve long-term health.

Johns Hopkins Community Physicians offers award-winning adult and pediatric care and preventative outreach.

The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center’s new ambulatory health building keeps care delivery efficient and accurate. Their Palliative Care Department coordinates all aspects of care for citizens with serious illnesses. Population health initiatives improve outcomes in the county and beyond.

Sagepoint Senior Living is a proven provider of home care, day care, and assisted living support for area seniors.

Working together, Charles County and The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center offer a Mobile Integrated Health Program and Tele-Psych initiatives to reduce costs and connect patients with essential services.

Medical cannabis providers like Chesapeake Apothecary and Dispensary Works revolutionize the local marketplace with alternative forms of relief.

Our Real Estate

Ease of access is everything to multi-generational health care consumers. Available spaces in medical parks are convenient to the areas where citizens live, work, and take public transit. Concentrations of medical offices and outpatient clinics allow for quick collaboration among providers and easy coordination of services. World-class medical institutions like Georgetown University Medical Center, Children’s National Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and University of Maryland Medical Center are within an hour’s drive.
