The Charles County Economic Development Department celebrated Business Appreciation Week from May 8-12, 2023. Throughout the week, our focus was on recognizing the invaluable contributions of local businesses, which serve as the backbone of our community. These remarkable small businesses not only provide essential jobs, products, and services, but they also play a pivotal role in driving the prosperity of our community. As we move forward, let us continue to celebrate and support our local businesses!
Proclamation
On May 2, the Board of Charles County Commissioners demonstrated their support for the local business community by officially recognizing both National Small Business Week and Charles County Business Appreciation Week. This acknowledgment highlighted the vital role that small businesses play in driving economic growth and creating jobs in the county.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies
The Charles County Economic Development Department team was pleased to kick off Business Appreciation Week by holding two ribbon-cutting ceremonies. The first was for Minuteman Press Gallery, which offers printing and marketing services, while the second was for St. Burgh's Wickery Gallery, which sells handcrafted home decor and gift items.

Business Visits
During Business Appreciation Week, the Charles County Economic Development Department team, accompanied by community leaders, elected officials, and other stakeholders, actively engaged with over 24 local businesses, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and successes faced by these enterprises while also highlighting the vital role they play in the county's economic landscape.
