Our Quarterly Business Roundtables are a great opportunity for your business to get the inside scoop on what is happening in Charles County and learn about the Economic Development Department’s activities. This session will focus on recent changes affecting small and minority-owned businesses in Maryland and provide attendees with an overview of key policy and program updates impacting procurement and certification processes.

Walter L. Simmons, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Social and Economic Mobility (DoSEM), will discuss the Procurement Reform Act of 2025, updates to the Small Business Reserve (SBR) Program, and changes to Maryland's MBE/WBE certification and application processes. The session will provide businesses with practical insights into navigating the state's evolving procurement landscape.

This session featured the theme "Fueling Growth: Capital, Innovation & Strategic Support for Small Businesses," highlighting how businesses could access funding, technical assistance, and strategic guidance to accelerate their growth.

Justin Ferguson, Innovation Manager, Venture Development at TEDCO, provided an inside look at how TEDCO drives investment and innovation across Maryland’s business ecosystem, supporting early-stage companies in building and scaling. Omoré Okhomina, BRIDGE Advisor, discussed TEDCO’s BRIDGE Program and how it connects diverse business owners with legal, accounting, and financial advisory services.

February 5, 2026 Quarterly Business Roundtable

This virtual Business Roundtable featured the theme "Ready: Executing Leadership, Location, and Logistics When Sudden Emergencies Strike." Drawing on first-hand disaster response experience, the session shared a practical framework that businesses of any size can use to protect their people and operations during unexpected emergencies.

The program also included an "Inside Scoop" update on current development projects in Charles County and a "Be In the Know" segment highlighting upcoming business education and funding opportunities.
