Maryland Airport is a privately owned, general aviation airport in western Charles County, located four miles east of Indian Head, one mile south of the MD 210/MD 227 intersection, and 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. The airport offers a 3,740-foot paved runway for general aviation and business travel.

In the 1990s, the Maryland Airport was identified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a General Aviation Reliever Airport to Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport. Given its reliever status, the airport became eligible for federal funding to enhance user safety and expand capacity.

Today, to promote ancillary employment supporting development, approximately 550 acres of land surrounding the airport have been subjected to rezoning from the Watershed Conservation District to the commercial Aviation Business Park Zone.
