Federal investment and defense-related projects continue to drive strong, sustained demand across Charles County’s economy. This momentum is evident in the Navy’s 15-year, $2.7 billion Energetics Comprehensive Modernization Plan, which is bringing significant investment into the community. In FY24 alone, Charles County-based businesses received more than $95 million(1), while NSWC IHD contributed over $353 million in Maryland salaries and remained one of the county’s largest employers. With 174 projects already completed and more than 400 still planned as of March 2026(2), the modernization effort continues to generate long-term growth and opportunity across the region.
